A Guide to Lasting Beauty

Follow these simple steps from our florists to cherish your blooms for longer.

Fresh Water Daily

Flowers drink a lot of water. Replacing it daily keeps them hydrated and prevents bacteria growth.

Trim The Stems

A fresh cut at an angle allows stems to absorb more water. A trim every two days is ideal.

Keep Them Cool

Avoid direct sunlight and heat. A cool spot in your home will help preserve their freshness significantly.

Step-by-Step Bouquet Care

Follow our timeline for perfect blooms from day one and beyond.

Choose a vase that is sparkling clean, as bacteria is the primary enemy of fresh flowers. Fill it two-thirds full with fresh, cool water and stir in the provided flower food packet until it fully dissolves. This nutrient solution is crucial for their initial hydration and bloom.

Before placing flowers in the vase, carefully remove any leaves that will sit below the waterline to prevent rot. Then, using sharp scissors or a knife, trim at least one inch off each stem at a sharp 45-degree angle. This creates a fresh surface for maximum water absorption.

Place your beautiful new bouquet in a cool location, well away from direct sunlight, heating vents, or ripening fruit. Fruits release ethylene gas, a natural plant hormone that can cause flowers to age and wilt prematurely. A spot with bright, indirect light is perfect.

Your flowers are thirsty! Top up the vase with fresh water daily. Every two to three days, it's best to completely replace the water, clean the vase, re-trim the stems by another half-inch, and add more flower food if available. Promptly remove any wilting blooms to keep the rest of the bouquet healthy.

Common Myths

"Add a penny or aspirin to the water."

"Crush the ends of woody stems."

"Put the bouquet in the fridge overnight."

Florist's Facts

Flower food is scientifically formulated to provide the perfect balance of nutrients and antibacterial agents. Household remedies are less effective.

This outdated practice can damage the stem's water-uptake channels. A clean, sharp cut at an angle is always the best method.

A home refrigerator is too cold and dry. It can damage delicate petals. A naturally cool room is a much safer option.
